Individual Oral Presentation – Words of WisdomDirections: As a business communicator, one of the most powerful tools you can develop is that of persuasion and the ability to sell your ideas. In this assignment, you will practice your persuasive skills by researching and giving a presentation on what you consider your best bit of advice for life or “words of wisdom.” For example, you may think that everyone should take up dancing as a way of staying healthy and positive. Or, you may try to persuade your audience to study abroad as a great way to cultivate an open-mind and sense of adventure. Choose something that you feel passionate about! During sign up, complete the phrase “Why you should do X” to be sure it’s in a persuasive (not informative) format.In your presentation, you are not just informing your audience about your topic. You are persuading your audience members to change their thoughts, beliefs or actions in order to gain the benefits that you are presenting. The success of your presentation is determined by the clarity with which you are delivering your message and the extent to which your audience is persuaded by your message. While you will want to keep the AIDA strategy in mind, your presentation will also follow the PREP format as explained in Chapter 14 of your text. Be sure to read Chapters 14 and 15 thoroughly and apply the principles.Preview1. Your Name, Topic & Attention Getting Opening.2. Establish Credibility and positioning statement 3. Example(s) – support the benefits selected based on evidence, examples and research.(refer to source/authority during your presentation), overcome any potential resistance4. Position – re-state in different words your solution to the particular problem/issueReview5. Recap main takeaways points. End powerfully, on a positive note and with a call to action.Via Zoom. explain the advice you have selected, analyze and discuss why the advice is significant, and why you chose that particular advice. You should build a case for recommendations in your presentation by giving ample examples of reader benefits. Cite at least two credible sources and submit in APA style, along with an outline of your presentation to Dropbox by the due date.Pitchvantage: Practice your presentation at least three times with Pitchvantage. Watch yourself and take note of how you could improve. Review the feedback. Upload one final video entitled “Final-Peer Review.”Length: 3-4 minutes. You will be docked points for going over four minutes.Presentation Visuals: Use one visual aid – a piece of realia, one slide with a chart or graphic, etc…. Use this visual to gain attention or build interest. You can use it as your virtual background or show it briefly (no more than 10 seconds) during your presentation. No powerpoint slideshow with multiple slides.Evaluation: You will be responsible for incorporating elements in your presentation from your textbook, lectures, and class notes (AIDA). You will be graded using the Individual Present Rubric Form.
