Is this sufficient, or should additional “protected classes” such as sexual orientation be established? Why or why not? 2 -Defined contribution (DC) retirement plans are becoming more popular in local governments as an alternative to traditional pension plans. Are such plans better because of financial stability, portability, and greater opportunity for participants to manage their assets, as proponents claim, or do they place employees’ long-term security at risk, as critics have suggested? Why or why not? 3- Do you believe that local governments have a responsibility to help employees with health problems not related to their work environment? Why or why not?
