Gender Roles
This assignment is based on two readings – Hamlet by William Shakespeare and Fantomina or Love in a Maze by Eliza Haywood. There is one prompt that you will be having to explore really well and dig in deep with deep analysis and good quotes all throughout. I will attach both of these texts fully as a PDF. *Your response needs to address Hamlet and Fantonima as a whole, INCLUDING conclusions of the texts! I will also attach the final paper questionnaire-proposal with the full remarks from what the instructor is looking for, please follow EVERYTHING the questionnaire says, it is the layout of all the details that should be included in the paper. FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT – Write a well-developed, 8 page, double-spaced paper (12 Times New Roman font), using MLA citation, comparing and contrasting Hamlet and Fantomina. Please strive for analysis, not plot summary; for concreteness, not generalization; for the precision of thought and language, not vagueness. Formulate a specific arguable thesis, which will be presented in your introduction. Make sure to provide quotes/support/evidence in each paragraph, followed by your own analysis. Use textual connections (quotes from the readings) to support all of your claims. Generally, your analysis should be at least twice as long as your quote. Cite sources using MLA documentation and include Works Cited page (Works Cited is extra, not included in 8 pages. *Secondary sources (scholarly texts ad articles) are not required to complete this essay. Your main evidence MUST COME from hamlet AND Fantomina and your own analysis. *However, if you wish, you may also incorporate a MAX of ONLY TWO scholarly, reputable sources, but the main emphasis of your paper needs to be on those two texts and your own analysis.
