Pro Bono RequirementsIndiana Rules of Professional Conduct number 6.1 states that:”A lawyer should render public interest legal service. A lawyer may discharge this responsibility by providing professional services at no fee or a reduced fee to persons of limited means or to public service or charitable groups or organizations, by service in activities for improving the law, the legal system or the legal profession, and by financial support for organizations that provide legal services to persons of limited means.”A recent change by the Indiana Supreme Court has made reporting of these hours mandatory. Rule 6.7 requires attorneys to report their pro bono hours in one of four categories.Review the Rule 6.1 through 6.7 of the Indiana Rules of Professional Conduct (Links to an external site.) as well as the commentary.Written AssignmentAfter reviewing the Rules of Professional Conduct and the commentary, explain how those rules effect attorneys and, by extension, their legal assistants.The written assignment should be no more than two pages with the following formatting requirements:• 12 point font• 1″ margins• Double spaced• Correct Bluebook citations
