And used examples in our day to day to answer to respond to this reflective writing .   You can cited a source if needed but it is not recommended  Reflective writing about :  The reason for female genital mutilation (FGM) varies from one region to another. In some regions is it done in order to conform to societal norms, to be able to marry, to have kids, is seen as modest and feminine, or as a long time tradition. Some say it is specific to religion although there is nothing in scripture. Some believe it is a necessary part of raising a girl, increases a woman’s chances of getting married, prevents premarital sex and decreases the chances she will have extramarital affairs (WHO, 2020). The cultural arguments against this procedure are many. It is said that FGM has no health benefits, and harms girls and women in countless ways. There are immediate complications that include severe pain, excessive bleeding, genital tissue swelling, fever, infection, shock and death. Long-term complications include urinary, vaginal, menstrual, psychological, and sexual problems, and the list goes on and on. Today there are more than 200 million girls and women alive that have been cut in 30 countries in Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Most importantly, it is argued that it is a violation of women’s human rights (WHO, 2020). Female circumcision is an important part of the societies that practice it, where there is patriarchal authority and control of female fertility sexuality. In some countries, a girl’s virginity is essential to her family’s ability to arrange a marriage, to receive compensation or a brideprice, as well as family honor. A prospective husband’s family may also have the right to inspect the female’s body prior to marriage. giving the groom’s family the right to her labors and children, to which she has no control (Guttmacher Institute, 2016).
